For my passion project, I decided to combine two of my loves; skating and music. I designed 3 skate decks inspired by the album artwork of J-HOPE's Hope World, incorporating the signature motif and style of one of his own favorite artists, Takashi Murakami. The two aforementioned artists are commonly associated with one another in their overall bright/colorful style and artistic aesthetics, so I was excited to combine the two. A common theme among J-Hope's lyrics is, of course, hope. I incorporated one of my favorite lines into one deck design:
'하나뿐인 hope, 하나뿐인 soul'
'하나뿐인 smile, 하나뿐인 너'
'하나뿐인 smile, 하나뿐인 너'
Which roughly translates to:
'Only one hope, only one soul'
'Only one smile, only one you'
I believe that this line encompasses the moral of both his identity and message as an artist, and it is this line in particular that I find most inspiring from his work thus far.
